The latest designs for the new Barwon Women’s and Children’s showcase how community priorities and local culture are shaping a modern, inclusive and welcoming health facility for families across the region.
These designs reflect feedback received through extensive community engagement, including input from local families, culturally diverse groups, and First Nations representatives, including Wadawurrung Traditional Owners.
The facility is designed to be safe, inclusive and family-friendly. Drawing inspiration from the local landscape, the designs express a strong connection to place and community identity.
During the project planning phase, local community members contributed over 600 ideas and priorities to help shape the new Barwon’s Women’s and Children’s – through a Community Consultative Committee, an online survey, and engagement with First Nations representatives and over 70 cultural and linguistically diverse community members, speaking six different languages.
